About The Author
Rishabh P Nair is a brand marketing professional who has been a journalist, copywriter, Bollywood lyricist, screenplay writer and corporate ghostwriter in the past. He grew up in a typical 90s middle class household and like many others his parents told him he could be whatever he wanted to be. So, he became a writer. Much to their chagrin.
He discovered his penchant for writing early in life when he was in the 6th grade. He was part of a children’s film that exposed him to screenwriting and got him into the Limca Book of World Records. The film he was part of was India's first-ever children’s film to win at the International Children's Festival of Performing Arts (2002-2003) and was screened at the 27th NHK Japan Prize contest 2000.
Bitten by the writing bug he grew up to pursue his Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication. His mother would like you to know that he graduated with a distinction in the year 2010, has a Post-Graduate Certification in Marketing and Brand Management from MICA and is an IIM Lucknow alumni from their CEO program.
After dabbling as an entertainment reporter with the Indo-Asian News Agency (IANS) he decided to switch gears and become an automobile journalist. This allowed him to marry his love for words with his love of motorcycles and cars. This enabled him to first save money and then spend all his savings on a Royal Enfield motorcycle.
A customary Delhi to Ladakh pilgrimage later, he decided to quit his well-paying job as an automobile journalist and became a freelance scriptwriter. A week later, he packed his bags, moved to Mumbai and became part of the Juhu-Versova Struggling Writers Association (which should be a real thing by now). Content writing, ad films, music videos and other freelance writing gigs paid for sustenance as he annoyed directors and other professionals to give him work.
He soon realised his income from writing wasn’t enough to sustain the lifestyle he desired. The internet informed him that Copywriters make decent money and that he had the requisite skills for the job. So, he became a copywriter. He was ready to jump into the world of mainstream advertising but life had other plans.
He was one of the 10 writers selected from all over India for the First Draft Writer’s Residency Program organised by AIB (All India Bakchod), in the year 2016. Thanks to lovely folks at brands like TIL Limited, Gainwell, CarToq, Mindworks Global Media, Citrus Pay, All India Bakchod, CashKaro, Grip Invest & Cube Wealth… he is now a Professional Blank Page Defeater. That ability has lent him many labels ranging from Brand Copywriter to Creative Manager, Creative Director and Head Of Brand Content.
When he’s not cracking bad jokes, writing, editing or thinking about writing, Rishabh masquerades as a seasoned digital marketeer, who excels in building brands for construction, mining and material handling equipment brands with a successful track record of working with fast-growing e-commerce, AI, fintech & blockchain start-ups. While crisp marketing communication has been regular fare, he has cooked over 300 scripts for YouTube videos, digital ads, short films, TV Shows and feature films.
He also has experience drafting annual reports, investor pitches, ghostwriting thought leadership articles for 10+ CEOs and CXOs for leading publications. That last bit is relevant because it makes money and it is exactly the kind of parallel career the author wants to help other writers to find for themselves. The author is the eldest sibling in his family and currently lives in India with his wife and chocolate labrador retriever - both of whom highly recommend his work.
